The Chief Executive Officer of the Zongo Development Fund (ZoDF), Obrempong Dr. Arafat Sulemana Abdulai has donated funds to the Concerned Zongo Youth Group (CZYG), on behalf of the ZoDF.
The donation which took place at the ZoDF office, today (Friday, July 28, 2023), was in support of activities undertaken by the CZYG in Zongo communities in the Greater Accra Region.
Dr. Abdulai stated at the presentation that the development of the youth in Zongo Communities is a “major priority of the Fund” and urged the group to continue to “innovate and initiate” activities in collaboration with the ZoDF.
He said the construction of school blocks, ICT Centres, Libraries, Health facilities and the provision of Teaching and Learning materials, educational grants and entrepreneurship training programmes are all targeted at transforming Zongo communities through development.
The unprecedented construction of several Community Sports and Social Centres (astro turfs) in Zongos; Mechanized Water Systems; Drainage Systems and Community roads are indubitable evidence of the unrelenting commitment of government to the development of deprived and marginalized Zongo communities, he added.
The Chief Executive Officer also mentioned Capacity Building programmes on Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution for Chiefs, Imams, Magajiyas, Youth leaders and opinion leaders organized by the Fund under the theme “Changing the Narrative on Zongo Communities.
The acting President of the CONCERNED ZONGO YOUTH GROUP, Mr. Ibrahim Habib, who received the donation on behalf of the association expressed gratitude to the ZoDF and conveyed the group’s readiness to collaborate with the Fund for the successful execution of the Zongo Transformation agenda.
The Zongo Development Fund, under the leadership of Dr. Arafat Sulemana Abdulai has provided support, funding and assistance to various organizations operating in Zongo communities.
The National Council of Zongo Chiefs, Bambawia Islamic Institute Foundation, Hausa/Fulani Association of Ghana, ZongoVation Hub and the Hausa Youth Ghana are some of the organizations who have benefitted from support from ZoDF.
Others include, the National Benkadi Association of Ghana, Ghana Muslim Students Association, Ashaiman Council of Muslim Chiefs and the Shukura Youth Club.
