ZoDF EXPLORES PARTNERSHIPS WITH \’YAN KASA ASSOCIATION ON ESTABLISHING LEANING CENTRES IN ZONGO COMMUNITIES

The Zongo Development Fund(ZoDF) has explored collaboration with Development Partners, including the ‘Yan Kasa Association of America, on the potential for establishing Learning Centres across all major Zongo communities in Ghana.
At deliberations with representatives of the association and the ZoDF, led by Sarki Alhaji Salisu Maude, Board Chairman and Alhaji Halidu Haruna, Chief Executive Officer, the Fund explored an initiative for the construction of Centres, dubbed ZENTCOMS, to serve as multi-purpose one-stop teaching, Learning and Information facilities.


The Centres would include;
1.Library with materials on formal and arabic education
2. A DOVSU unit in charge of Counselling, Guidance and a Career Guidance department manned by professionals
3. Conducive Teaching and Learning facilities with WIFI and audio-visual equipment.
4. An official of ZoDF District office and National Service personnel to provide wide-ranging services including support for basic, secondary and tertiary students.
5. Registration of eligible pupils/students at the centre
The Centres would also provide monitoring and mentoring support to Zongo youth to pursue responsible behaviour and shun drug abuse and anti-social activities.
The ‘Yan Kasa Association is a humanitarian and philanthropic group based in the diaspora with a commitment to the development of Zongo communities in Ghana.
The ZoDF stressed the importance of close collaboration with the association in the sustainable progress of Zongos.
The CEO of ZoDF, Alhaji Halidu, explained that the Centres would run on 24hr basis to praticalise the 24 hr economy spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama.
